IPhone 4 from Apple

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone experienced buying an Apple Iphone 4 from the Apple store.
I went to my local store today, however they said that I was have to queue up in the morning before opening time, to actually buy one.
Anyone done this?
I know its generally different in each city, but how long are the queues? And are you actually guaranteed to get the phone?

Iphones are in REALLY short supply in the UK at present. I've ordered mine off the Apple website and have to wait 3 weeks for delivery.

I'm not sure how long the queues are and would guess that it would differ from branch to branch. I'd suggest getting to the store half an hour before it opens and have a look at the queue. If it's quite long, go back earlier the next day but take a flask of coffee!!

There's no guarantee of getting the iPhone, but you should at least get your name on a list.

just ring the store you are buying from when they open and confirm if they have stock, and if there is plenty.

they say all that about ques just to scare people away so the people who are genuine can buy
