I can't get into Day Break either. It's too much like the one show, which was fine for light evening entertainment but not morning news. Maybe if they had brought in unknown presenters or preferably kept the old ones it would be ok. BBC has me for the time being.

Likewise; it was bad enough when ITV amalgamated the local news of two companies so that my area being rural, rarely ever gets any local coverage, now that the professionalism of the GMTV team has been replaced by a clone of the One Show it's the Beeb for us in the mornings.
  • And how long will it be before the Daybreak presenters get offered a larger salary to go to Sky News and take it?

But, I can't even get to watch Daybreak to see what I think of it because I'm off to work when it starts... Unless it's on ITV Player...
  • I'm really sorry Martin but i hadn't noticed you looked any different! Was too busy paying attention rather than what you looked like!

Bootcut jeans  You're getting into Clarkson territory ;) and Mrs MSE is right, brown trousers are for huntin' shootin' and fishin' .

Bootcut anything is the best!! It never goes out of fashion and goes with just about anything and any shape... which cannot be said about the skinny fashion now  It is interesting that the people who like it most are the ones who definitely shouldn't...:rotfl:

Agree with the brown trousers though!!!!

I think that's just you. I'm oop north and have never heard anyone refer to trousers as pants, unless they were putting on an American accent.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who picked up on Martin's Americanism, I was wondering why he would be appearing on daytime tv in just a shirt and his knickers when I realised he meant trousers.

Hope you went to Gap and got 30% off?

Cheeky so and so's! Making you change your image is not on!
    so this a work-related purchase

Maybe so, but it isn't tax deductable (dual purpose) unless the trousers have a huge "Daybreak" logo pastered all over the backside?

Slap Daybreak with an expenses claim Martin :D
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

I've not watched the programme yet, indeed I hardly get the chance to watch any morning/daytime TV, but any new show takes time to get established, all these new people trying to work together with unfamiliar routines: think about how anybody feels starting a new job!

What I wanted to point out, though, was the incredible difference a change of clothes can make. I used to be a field support tech for a small IT company. When I started, we had to wear a suit, at our own expense. A year or so before I left, we got issued with company polo shirts (mit logo yet) and could wear jeans. Initially we thought this was fine - jeans knees lasted longer when you spend a lot of time under desks disconnecting faulty PCs. The difference in how one was treated when walking into a customers, though, was amazing: before, people were deferential and polite, after, we were just another tradesman.

My gran always said "if you dress like a tinker you'll be treated like a tinker"
  • Think you look brill Martin whatever you wear but you need your own show as the new format is awful and we have switched channels:beer:
