UK Holidays with young family...

Good afternoon

We are looking to go away next summer with 3 other familes. All of us will have a baby under 1 (and we will have a 5 year old as well)

Can anybody recommend anywhere for us to go in the UK. Driving not an issue and we are based in Glasgow.

Any advice would be great.

    how about camping
  • With a baby under 1? Is that wise...!?!
  • The Centreparcs (formerly called Oasis Village) near Penrith is really nice. You can get a chalet, or several in a group, that are in peaceful woodland settings. You've got plenty of privacy and don't feel like you are intruding on anyone else's holiday if babies decide to test their lungs out.

Lots to do for all ages, all close enough together to be easy on foot, but even better if you hire a bike. No cars allowed on the compound except during the twice-weekly changeover window. And red squirrels as well!
Our kids loved it, we've been twice, and it is a very good place to share holidays with other families because it's easy to stay together but yet have a bit of space if you want it.

why not, we camped in northern ireland with an under 1, and in the uk with one under one and an under two.

    center parcs is great -

it all depends on how much you want to spend and what you want to do....

One thing that will turn out cheaper if your thinking of comming south of the border is Scottish summer holidays start sooner that ours so if you get your hols up and running while ours are still in school you will all save a packet. EG my daughter finishes july 20th (merseyside)and others about the same.

  • Hi,

We have recently came back from Greenacres holiday park in North Wales. Little legs loved it, small, compact and entertainment ect very good.

Lots to do in area, we done steam train, Port Merion, Cricceth castle and loads more.

Cost about 400 for week in school time for caravan which was lovely.

Loads of other kids so our little girl loved it.

Might be a bit far from scotland though but the mix of tacky holiday camp and nice area with castles, beaches, nice drives was perfect

  • Lots of private caravan owners here, http://www.directholidayhomes.co.uk all over the country, They are generally cheaper than booking direct with the park and you know where on the park your caravan is, what the caravan is like and most owners provide lots of extra's that Haven don't
