Honda brakes
Comments

When I called Honda head office to complain I was given a massive run around, It could be brake dust causing them to wear down quicker, and disks should only last 10 000 miles anyhow.
Any advice would be appreciated. I feel like Ive been done for £259 when the brakes should have lasted much longer.
Stew
I'm stuffed then. I've done 50,000 in my Ford Mondeo and its still got the original pads and discs it had when I bought it and they only just came up as an advisory on the last service.0 -

You can do all my mechanical work from now on! You're the guy that said a clutch should last the life of a vehicle aren't you?
Regards,
Andy
Yes clutches can be made to last the lifetime of a car. It's all down to driver use/abuse.
And yes £100 to S/F discs an pads is ok. Think I'll put me prices up...0 -
Makes sense I suppose.
Customer "The car needs new brakes"
Harvey "I'll knock you £100 off the screen price to get them done"
Customer "The car needs new brakes"
Harvey "OK then you can come work for me if you seem to be under the impression you can inspect the brakes without removing the wheels..."0 -
"Can be", I can make a tea-bag last 30 cups of tea, but I wouldn't begrudge anybody for not doing that.harveybobbles wrote: »Yes clutches can be made to last the lifetime of a car. It's all down to driver use/abuse.

It's not really though is it?
You genuinely believe you'd be able to get rear discs and supplied and fitted for £100 on this vehicle? Oh, with modern open alloys wheels it's pretty simple to spot a scored disc, some cases you can even see the pads!
Do you genuinely blame every customer for a failed clutch every time, and put it down to driver error?

Only on a used car he's sold them.
(You probably could get some cheap pads and discs fitted for less than £100, it's only got to last out the 3 month warranty)0 -
Yet again i say, modern cars must be carp as my 20 year old Golf is still on its original clutch and is closing on 100,000 miles. Showing no signs of failure.harveybobbles wrote: »Yes clutches can be made to last the lifetime of a car. It's all down to driver use/abuse.

It's not unusual at all for a modern car do to that, I sent my previous Mondeo for scrap at over 200,000 with its factory clutch in it.C_Mababejive wrote: »Yet again i say, modern cars must be carp as my 20 year old Golf is still on its original clutch and is closing on 100,000 miles. However, depending on use a clutch may fail earlier, sometimes it's just a simple mechanical failure, sometimes they are contaminated by another failure.
100,000 in twenty years lol

Or did you authorise them to take this payment by erm, paying?
£100 should see the job done. Max!
Brakes will last as long as you can make them.
First price was over £320, but I complained and they knocked £70 of the original price claiming goodwill.
I spoke to the Workshop manager at the Honda dealership late yesterday afternoon, and he would like me to pop the car by for a quick overview to check for any reasons.
Ive got the best reason: Honda have put me over the barrell, done the deed and then taken £259 from me for the pleasure.0 -

Yes. Clutches dont fail on their own.
It amazes and scares me the number of people you see sat at traffic lights and/or junctions holding the car on the clutch or creeding forwards.
9 times out of 10 if you ask someone if they abuse their clutch they say "ooooh no I'm good, me" - yet just a few hundred yards in the car with them demonstrates that they are indeed a clutch abuser.0 -
