Share Orange / T-Mobile Networks from October
From October Orange and T-Mobile networks are being merged, so if the other provider has a better reception your call / text will revert to their network, free. It doesn't work for 3G yet though.
You need to register at www.t-mobile.co.uk/share or www.orange.co.uk/share depending on who your contract is with.
Works for contract and PAYG

Its not strictly a network merger as it seems you need to manually switch between the two, automatic switching will come later. But anyone any ideas on how this will affect Virgin Mobile??.0

As Virgin is a subset of T, I'd think you'll only be able to use the T masts as the ID from the mast won't change (at least not yet).0

And I don't think you have to manually switch over either. It seems that if you've opted in as it explains HERE you'll be able to switch over automatically as and when the signal allows it. Next year, it will become automatic for everyone, not just the guinea pigs who opted in to the trial.0
