Internet on the move

I know that there are loads of phones that allow you to check your emails, Facebook and Google whatever you fancy, whilst on the move, and that various contract and bolt-ons allow you to have some allowance (500mb to 1 Gb) of data. I have a phone, Nokia 6300, and a notebook, cannot afford an iPhone or android, and wanted to know if any data allowance can be used by tethering my netbook to my mobile, and if my mobile will be capable of that.
Your expert help is greatly appreciated

  • You'll be able to use it as a modem (but that won't come out of your allowance) but i can't find a tethering app for it

If it won't come out of my allowance, will I be charged for mb usage? I am trying to understand...
  • Yes, you'd be charged for 'using your phone as a modem'

Worth mentioning that not all data plans allow you to tether, so it's worth checking. The network can determine if you're using the phone in this way, but whether they would or not is another matter.
  • I have used a Nokia E71 as a modem in the past almost daily on THREE network with no problems from them.

Very easy to do too using Nokia PC Suite.
