Hi
I was given a box-set of Films on DVD in September 2009.
I have been watching the films gradually during this time.
I have only just discovered that one of the discs does not play at all, the player showing an Error message on the screen.
Is there a glitch on the disc that can be rectified by me or do I just accept that its faulty and can never be played?
Thanks.

Does it look scratched/damaged at all?
Are you able to try it in a different model player or two?0 -
Have you tried playing it on your computer/laptop, does it still come up with the error?0

I could put it into my computer or laptop.
Never thought of that, Thanks :money:
Did you test it?
If it is still not working right, have a look at google and see if it is a commom problem for that boxset.
You could contact the film company that produced the film (there should be a uk division) explaining the problem on that particular disc.
Usually they are quite good at sending replacments out if there is problem with a disc.
What is the boxset, region and which disc ?0 -
I'm at work at the moment.
All I know so far is that the boxset is 'Sherlock Holmes - The Difinitive Collection' starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes.
The faulty one is the 'Spider Woman/Pearl of Death' disc.
I'll look tonight for the region etc. and post here later.
Thanks.0 -
Hello again
I've just put the dvd into the computer but it won't play it.
I've tried another one that I know is a good one, and that does not play either.
There is a message saying that I need to get a Windows Media player Plug-in for £ 9.95.
Is this necessary?0 -
Download and install VLC player and open the discs with that the ok one will play then try the faulty disc. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/0

here's a good place to ask about problems with the set - apparently early pressings had heavily scratched/'gouged' discs.

If it's Optimum Home Entertainment who released the boxset their email is......info@optimumreleasing.com0

Thanks to everyone who has responded.
23n1th - Thanks for the VLC download tip.
Jenna - Thanks for the link. I think I will have to contact the distributor now.0
