Slow internet browsing.

Hi.

In the last 2 weeks my computer has been getting slow when using the internet. I am with Sky broadband and i have lost connection for about 1-2 mins and the all is ok. I have a Highjackthis file below if somebody could tell me what i can doe to speed things up would be a great help.

  • Hi, im not really sure which of your processes are right or not here. However are you using up a lot of CPU / RAM, open up task manager and click on the "memory" and "CPU" columns to sort by each process. Is it the PC which is loaded or just slow response from the net?

    Try opening up a command shell and run the command "tracert www.bbc.co.uk" you should see a list of hops to get to the BBC and the response times, this should give a idea if theres any latency in your connection. The response times should be around less than a second ideally.

    If both the above seem ok (i.e. your PC isnt loaded or nothings eating up your connection) then maybe its something in your browser thats slow to load, try another browser like chrome or firefox and see if it makes any difference?
  • Looked at your HiJack This log and would suggest that you delete the first entry ie:

    O2 - BHO: TBSB05527 - {C5968DB3-3160-4DA8-AF6D-019FE3ED863E} - (no file)

    and investigate this one further:

    O23 - Service: SBSD Security Center Service (SBSDWSCService) - Unknown owner - (no file)

    Did you have Spybot installed and then removed it? If so, the above entry can be deleted.

    Have you run a Malwarebytes scan?

    If not, make sure you update the program before you run it - look for the Update tab.

    You are being diverted through a Proxy Server.

    Fix these entries using Hijack This:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5555
    O15 - Trusted IP range: http://192.168.0.1
    O15 - ESC Trusted IP range: http://192.168.0.1

    Next time post all of the Hijack This log, not just the bit you feel important.

    Which OS are you using?

    If XP, open Internet Explorer: On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options, click the Connections tab, and then click LAN Settings and make sure that Use a proxy server for your LAN does not have a tick in it.

    Next, follow these instructions though divert from step 6; instead select the options that select addresses automatically.

    Knarf44 i still have Spybot on the computer.

    rhythmsoup i opened the command shell and all were about 41ms so that seems ok.

    Donnie i did post all the Highjack log and not some bits.
    I am using Windows 7 os.
    I will fix the items you mentioned and do the instructions also.

    The full Hijack This log would have already told us the OS that you were using.

    Because I had to guess, my instructions now have to be modified slightly. Look here. Again divert from step 6; instead select the options that select addresses automatically.

    Is it just with IE thats its slow? Have you tried another browser? Asking because it could just be a problem with IE or the browser you're using.

    Is it just your computer thats running the internet slow? Have you (provided you've got one) tried another computer on the internet? Asking because if its not just your computer it could be the internet connection itself, in which case thats skys problem.
