TalkTalk's change in billing date is being investigated by BACS and by TalkTalk's own bank to ensure that TT's processes are compliant with the D/D rules.

Thanks for linking to that thread. I figured something was very dodgy when they offered to pay any bank charges I incurred (which would have been £1 a day until at least the 6th).0

I have just gone overdrawn for the first time in 3 years because of this. I had no idea TalkTalk were going to randomly take their payment early.
Every month my current account has just enough to balance the direct debits, but they took 2 payments in March and I've gone overdrawn by 17 pounds.
Just checked HSBC (my banks) terms and they will charge as its over their 10 pounds buffer zone.
I am so furious with TalkTalk how irresponsible. Having read around on forums this evening I had no idea this was going to happen. But now I check back on my email notifications about the bill its in tiny black writing on the bottom. Who reads the small print in any bill notification they get! I can't believe they can get away with this irresponsibility. :mad:0 -
I completely agree with you about their easily missed "notification". When I spoke to TalkTalk on the phone they did offer to pay any bank charges I incurred but I cancelled the DD before payment was taken.0

Got my TT bill today, billing date 25th April; Direct Debit date 5th May so 10 days, not as long a period as the previous 14 days but more than last month (when the change came in) of 5 days.
May just be due to bank hols extending the period etc. don't know?0
