Entropay domancy fee: how does it work?

I have an entropay account which I have used in the past to book flights. The account has now been dormant for 11 months. After 6 months, I received a message from entropay telling me that my account was now dormant and that there was a dormancy fee of £2.50 per month that would be debited from my entropay balance but would not be taken from my funding source.

That's fine. I was anticipating that and had only 6 pence in my account.

I have now logged back into my entropay account after filling the security questions and my balance shows 0, as expected.

I now want to use my entropay account to buy an Easyjet flight.

My question: if I were to load funds onto my entropay account now and attempt to pay for a flight, would dormancy fees for the past 5 months of dormancy (so £2.50*5=£12.50) be debited immediately from my balance before my purchase (in other words, will the dormancy fee be applied retroactively as soon as I load funds) or will the past five months of dormancy be simply wiped off and never charged?

  • I had the same issue- but have discovered that they will not take the fee. So you are safe:j

Er... not quite sure if thats sarcasm or genuine good wishes to NickBFS but I actually checked with Entropay support who assured me this was the case. I did transfer money and no backdated fees were charged.

    Hi Guys

Sorry to interrupt you. I understand Entropay is pre-paid card.
Do we get benefit if we book budget airlines such as Easy Jet with entropay in term of booking fee ?

    Thank you

It is a visa electron so you do avoid the credit card fee with those airlines that exempt visa electron from the booking fee such as easyjet, among a number of others (but not Ryanair).

    Thank you NickBFS

It is useful to know the way to avoid the dormancy fee, e.g. just loading the amount you need to pay and leave it 1p to maintain the a/c

I notice there is top/up/loading fee of 4.95% to be considered

Entropay also do a prepaid Plastic Mastercard which means that you can book on Ryanair without incurring their charge. The Entropay charge is far lower than Ryanair's.
