Are extended appliance warranties worth buying?

If the cheap one goes wrong now, we will just dump it and buy another
But I agree that your approach is completely valid, too.0 -
We are about to buy two large appliances, a Rangemeaster range cooker and a Samsung American Fridge freezer.
Is it worth adding on and extending the 2 year guarantee to 5 years for both? Think the cost is around £400 direct with Currys.
Or would the multi appliance cover from Warranty Direct be better?
ThanksI can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

No no and no!
As others have said put the money into an account and build up a repair fund if you need it in the future.
You may want to also google Samsung American F/F's or visit ukwhitegoods.co.uk for advice on appliance purchases as they do not have a good reliability reputation. Admiral or Maytag apparently are the more reliable brands as "real" American Fridge freezers0 -
Just to add my 2c to what most others have said - NO!
CheersThe difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -
More or less a resounding no then!!
Thanks for the replies.
I can understand not getting one with cheaper stuff under £500 but thought it may well be worth extending to 5 years on the range as it's £1,500!!0 -
As rule of thumb no there not worth it. There are some exceptions though ie richer sounds extended cover.(I wont go into detail)0

Again check out the website i have suggested for more expert replies than you are likely to find here.
The point is not the price of the range but the costs of repairs and parts if they go wrong0 -

Hi. Depending on what type of bank account you hold, you can obtain up to 3 years replacement/repair cover free of charge. I know Barclays and HSBC do this, but again, it depends on the type of account. Barclays is a premier account and HSBC is probably the same.0
