Unfortuately I cannot name him yet as ebay are supposed to be investigating ( Yer right wont hold my breath ) BUT if you browse around im sure you`ll come across him .....
Does anyone know if I list my items and I put " people with 0 feedback need not bid as I will cancel your bids " IS ALLOWED or will I get into trouble ... I know it may be unfair to genuine people & I am going to lose potential new members but it really cannot be bothered with all the hassle of chasing people when I know its a waste of time ...

you could also request 0 bidders to email before bidding........ I have seen both '0 bidders not welcome' and '0 bidders please contact me before bidding'
    on auctions
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

I always thought you cound set if you excepted bids for zero feedback bidders Here but the option seems to only allow blocking minus rated bidders now.
  • Well I have managed to add this bidder to my BLOCKED LIST but haven`t a clue if it works

As for the promised reply from ebay of between 24/48 hours its now been 72 hours and not a dickie-bird from them

Heres a point I was thinking on .... Is it in ebays interest to chase these people... when you think how many people DONT bother to try and get final value fees back when a buyer dosen`t pay thinking its not worth the hassle for 20p or 30p or the risk of having neg-feedback left for the same reason ( I know this to be true becasue I have nt claimed for the same thing myself on smaller items ) ........ when you consider how many transaction that take place EBAY must be sitting on an ABSOLUTE FORTUNE in unclaimed fees.

Ebay treat zero feedback bidders as just being new and never having done anything wrong, and thus they should be encouraged to use ebay. Negative bidders have demonstrated that they have done something wrong and thus you may not want to deal with them.

As for statements such as "zero bidders" are banned or "contact before bidding" how does that help when they have sniped your auction and won.

perhaps a good system would be for people with 0 feedback to register a credit card

if they win and dont pay within so many days - the amount is debited automatically !

never going to happen of course!

but its quite unfair that so many sellers dont allow newbies to bid - we all have to start somewhere!
  • Is this the new game on EBAY ... MORONS buying items then not paying

when my auction ended ( only 1 bidder )the winner had no feedback so I was prepared for non-payment which has of course happened ,but while flicking through only 1 section of ebay tonight I have noticed the same bidder has bid on 4 different items ( not 1 less than £50 ) CONCRETE BUSINESS , CONDOM MACHINES , CHOCOLATE BARS, MOBILE PHONE..... So if anyone spots an overweight man mixing concrete while talking on a mobile who obviously thinks he gods gift to women .. PLEASE let me know

( my items have sell by dates ) now I am going to have to relist which is really annoying so much so I will now cancel ALL bidders who have zero feedbacks thus stopping any new potential honest members from buying my items

I know I am not the first to complain about this problem ... surely its about time EBAY did more to control this ...they charge enough !

I usually find alot of these people are from abroad....if you are selling in the uk only as i do now....then you can bar people outside uk from bidding...its not perfect but my npb have dropped from an alarming 30-40% to 10-15%...you can find it in their appalling help section.

personally i think ebay should be held accountable for this....also sometimes they dont pay for some npb......i will be chasing them.....problem is whilst i would luv to go to trading standards they will probably bar me even though ive done nothing wrong.

  • You haven't done something to p*** someone off have you?
It is just that the standard answer on here (and presumably elsewhere??) to someone messing you about on eBay is to set up another user id and bid on their items and not pay and / or leave bad feedback.
Though I think that some people just do it for 'fun'
The sooner that you NPB this loser - the better.
I don't know how people are able to set up (in some cases lots) of eBay accounts because I have never tried to set up another account, but eBay should make it harder.

yep ebay should make it harder...it wouldnt be difficult and i dont think ebay bother as its a nice little money earner for them.

  • hi all, after reading all the threads, just thought that you guys may not b aware of that ebay have a function that allows you to search the bidder of your item to see what item they have bid on,

    http://search.ebay.co.uk/ws/search/AdvSearch?sofindtype=3

of course blocking 0/neg feedbacks bidders and those from the countries you don't ship to will help but it s always a good idea to check out see what they have bid on recently to decide the likelyhood of a scam.

well, it s my 1st post and hope it ll b some help to you

This won't ever happen, It wouldn't be fair if the seller isn't genuine, so they have to be very careful. There are a lot of scammers out there! You just have to be extra careful when bidding, selling etc! If a buyer doesn't pay it isn't the end of the world cos you don't lose the item nor the money if you claim fees back! although it is irritating!
