JPG won't open

Hi I have some photos that have stopped opening - it seems like they may have become corrupt but I don't know why. (there are photos that are older and photos that are newer that work fine!)

How can I get them back?

They describe themselves as jpg still and are large enough to contain all the data but I have tried loads of things and they still won't open!

Any advice greatly appreciated

Try copying and pasting to another place and open them from there

So what is the exact error message when you try to open them?

picassa says "invalid image"
windows photo gallery says "the file appears to be damaged or corrupted"
Photoshop says "a JPEG marker segment is too short (the file may be truncated or incomplete)"

irfanview says - "can't read the file header"

I presume the older photo's used to open okay?

When was the last time you viewed them and have you updated/installed anything since then?

Would take a backup of the file first though.
