Samsung Galaxy S? A word of warning...

should have posted here really rather than techie, but anyway...
Anyone thinking of trying out one of these phones be warned. Samsung have shipped some of these models with the recovery buttons disabled. This means that should anything go wrong while updating (i.e computer crashing etc) your phone will brick and there is absolutely no way of restoring it because the restore buttons are disabled.
Your PC will not pick up the fact that the phone is connected so there is nothing you can do other than stare angrily at your £400 brick.
You will then face either a 3 week wait while T Mobile sort it out, or you can go directly to Samsung who will run you round in circles while trying to decide how best to proceed.
Irony being this is/was OH's phone who swapped an iphone 3GS for it. Had this have happened with Apple it would have been sorted by now.

Well, maybe after a couple of weeks insisting you must be pushing the reset button with the wrong hand ...pulliptears wrote: »Had this have happened with Apple it would have been sorted by now.
There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Sing with me Fifer (clicky).
And the Samsung version:
If you don't like the Samsung G, I don't blame you. If you bought one and it's a brick, that's tough 5hit.In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
LMAO you two, I told him he should have stuck with the 3GS but he preferred Android.0

Day 4, still no phone call.
I'm going to assume this is because a returns bag will appear in the post tomorrow. If not......0 -

Have you tried the xda forum? Full of clever folk who might be able to help unbrick your phone maybe?
Not that it helps you now, but there is now a program on there that will restore the 3 button recovery on those phones that do not have it, but I think it needs to be unbricked first0
