Normal bulb to GU10 adapters

I have loads of GU10 35W bulbs in my flat. They are expensive to buy and consume lot of electricity. I dont want to invest in expensive LED bulbs either. The only solution I can think of is to get adapters from normal to GU10. Do such things exist?
Thanks

You can get GU10 Low Energy Bulbs. Tesco sometimes have them on offer for £2.50 each. They consume 7W instead of the usual 35/50W.0

I have read few reviews and they say that the light is much less than the normal GU10 bulb. The non-halogen bulbs can be as cheap as 50p, so would rather go with them than spending £2.5 on GU10.0 -

Without changing your fittings I do not think you will be able. I have not seen any way to adapt GU10 to any other type of fitting on any of the electrical wholesaler websites I use.0 -

As an after thought...Your original posts states that "they consume loads of electricity" to be a concern of yours, yet you are looking to replace them with "non halogen bulbs" - which presumably will be a higher wattage to give you the same equivalent light? Something isn't stacking up.0 -
Funny I thought 35watt bulbs consumed 35 watts of electricity!
You could always try switching a few off, buy a couple of cheap uplighters.
The NOT from Ikea is £4.99, bulb is extra though. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Sorry, I dont think I was clear with my post. My main problem is that these bulbs are move expensive compared to the normal bulb. I buy philips GU10 from Argos which is 4.99 for 2 bulbs. I have tried few other brands and have never lasted for more than 3 months with approx 3 hours usage per day. Where as the normal bulbs are much cheaper and last longer. I can also buy low energy CFL which lasts longer and give same light as halogen bulb.
Thats why I am looking for adapters. I found one here:

for some reason, I cant get the correct link here. replace the !!!!! with !!!!!!!!!.0 -
I'm surprised myself, but I found these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LED-Halogen-CFL-Light-Bulb-GU10-E27-Lamp-Adapter-k-/320524092408?pt=UK_Light_Fittings&hash=item4aa0b983f8
Going to look awful though with low energy bulbs where a nice neat halogen capsule would have been.0 -
I suppose its irrelevant if you are not near an Ikea , but they sell 35w GU10's @ £2.99 for a 4 pack.
But beware you'll go round the store picking up the odd bit here and there, get to the check out and wonder how the smeg you have spent £50.

I have tried ikea bulbs and they lasted for less than 2 months. So was not impressed with them. Have you used them? How was your experience? I had pickedup the bulbs from ikea clearance, that shouldn't matter right?0 -
I've only got them in the kitchen but they have been there for at least a couple of years. I wonder if its to do with ventilation at all, in my el cheapo fitting the bulbs are completely exposed. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
