I have just moved out of a two bed flat, and my meter reading for the gas when i moved in was 00000, i have just moved out and it is 01404, does this seem about right for a two bed flat?

Depends on length of time you were there too

    Do you have gas CH
  • Yes, we were there for exactly a year

Last year Jan 09 to Dec 09 we used 16946.38 kwh

so far this year we used 12547.39 kwh

If that helps. 3 bedroom semi no wall insulation (cavity) but well insulated in roof. Gas CH
  • I am not sure what kw.h is as unsure how to convert it, but the reading was stated as using 1404 units

  • unfortunately we have been billed for a meter that doesn't work for the last year, so havent got a bill with the conversion rate, i am with british gas, jsut been told on the phone that the bill is 2.5K!!
  • According to that ours is 16014KW/h do you know how much you paid last year for the year?

    Thanks
  • As a tule of thumb I multiply by 11 for a metric meter and 32 for imperial its not exact but it gives a half decent ballpack figure 15444 Kwh for metric, 44928if imperial. If you have an imperial metre that is a bit of a stonking bill for the property you are supplying.

You did just read the numbers in black and white didn't you?

Metric or imperial meter (it's marked on the meter)? New meter set at 00000, so I'm guessing metric. 1414 units = approx 15,554 khw. About right for a 2 b/r property with gas CH and hot water.
Are you saying that you haven't paid a bill for the whole year?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • No i haven't paid for a year as there was a problem and i was billed for a different flat which was on a business account, so was paying 99p per day as a standard charge., but not charged for gas. i wasnt aware and assumed that the £30 per month bill was for gas. So now as i have left i have received a £2400 bill, which has shocked me. British gas have confirmed they will give me a refund on the 99p a day i have spent as i shouldnt have been pon a business account, and just wondering how much the final bill will be approximately.
