Nationwide To Close Agencies.
Comments

My husband and I have received letters today from Nationwide advising that our local branch will be closing at the end of the year.
The staff are always friendly and helpful, and when having problems with my Nationwide ISA transfer, were very supportive.
Internet banking is fine, but useless when paying in a cheque or wishing to withdraw a larger amount of money than is allowed on the debit card.
Our nearest town is 10 miles away, there are never enough staff available at Nationwide, and we end up waiting ages for service.
Although I am not surprised that our local branch is closing, am very disappointed.0 -
I've got a Co-operative Bank Cashminder basic current bank account & I have been known on several occasions over the years to pay cash & or cheques in at the village Post Office & transfer it to my main current account online as I don't want to go into town to deposit it :cool:Proudly Banking & Saving With:

Another nail in the coffin for Nationwide. First they downgrade FlexAccount to a "me-too" current account by removing the free foreign transactions. Now they close agencies - closest main NW branch to me is 15 miles away. Bye bye Nationwide from this customer.0

If you used the account mainly for the free foreign transactions & relied on a branch close to you then sadly it is but, it's sorted the wheat from the chaff of people who actually want & use a bank/building society current account for it's correct modern purpose eg: debit card, internet banking ...etc., so to many it's an upgrade - me includedProudly Banking & Saving With:

Just found out about this today. My wages are paid to me by cheque, nearest branch is 20 miles away. I will have to open an account elsewhere, just so I can pay in my wages (not a happy bunny)0
