If, as seems to be the current Coalition thinking, that everybody can earn a reasonable wage before paying tax. By raising the personal tax allowance. This seems better than imposing too high a minimum wage on the economy.[/QUOTE]

it's not imposed on the economy though. it's imposed on employers. you could equally say imposing too low taxes (if we are going to use your loaded verb) could damage the economy.

And employers have infinite amounts of money and are not part of the economy?

You mean like Barack Hussein Obama icon7.gif

Obama is not a Muslim. This is a fallacy that keeps being repeated by the American right, in the hope that the mud will stick.

Interesting, but an exception to the rule. I would say the overwhelming majority of British Jews are pro-Israel and hardly unbiased when looking at middle eastern issues. I'm not saying that this is wrong in itself, but it's worth pointing out nevertheless.

I bet the 50 professors who signed the linked statement don't say innit, sounds like ghetto talk to me.

Tell me marklv. Given your stunning insight that you suspect the Milibands are likely to have the ear of Mossad on the basis that they are ethnically jewish, does it also follow that you suspect Obama is in cahoots with the Kenyan secret services because of his family background?

'Too', 'low' and 'taxes' are three words which just don't compute in my world, certainly not in a joined up way.

    True.

Both attributes are, of course, inextricably linked to hard work, focus and self-discipline.

I have an ample supply of each.

But they are not (it's the other way round) and the process of reverse Darwinism will result in inevitable failure for any so called "affirmative action."

there is no such thing as reverse darwinism. it is survival of the most suited (people wrongly interpret 'fittest' to mean strongest when in fact it means most fit for purpose or fitted to the situation). humans are part of the enviroment not a seperate force. it is part of the evolutionary process that our adaptations and discoveries change the environment. evolution has no moral compass it simply is. it will not reward intelligence, physical strength or kindness just because we would like it too. it is simply the process by which individuals / species most suited to the enviroment self-perpetuate.

if being self-reflective, prudent, moral or educated makes you less likely to reproduce then you are less fit for purpose in the evolutionary scheme of things.

they are part of the economy. as are workers. neither is 'the economy' in their own right.
