I never buy crisps......but whilst shopping today I decided to buy an 12 pack of walkers just to see if I had any luck on this.........then I discover there is only 1 code on a multi pack. Grrrr, what a rip off!! How can that be right?

  • From the website:
If it has rained 1mm or more in your 3-hour timeslot on your chosen 4km² grid-spot, you will win £10 (€10 in ROI).
To reach 1mm or more of rain, you are looking for continuous rain for three hours that you can readily feel on your face and will make the ground wet, or a slight shower that lasts for 30 minutes and causes puddles to form. It is worth remembering that a steady drizzle of three hours may not actually give 1 mm.
The winning grid-spots will be verified against data provided on a daily basis by the Met Office, and all such rainfall results provided by the Met Office will be final for the purposes of the prize allocations. No correspondence will be entered into with consumers in relation to any disputed rainfall or rainfall data.

So now it has to rain, CONTINUOUSLY, for the entire three hour slot!

How often does it ever rain constantly for 3 hours? I do not see though how they can possibly gather weather data for every single 4km square area in the UK. They only have weather stations in the large cities and towns, so how can they be accurate? Or is that the reason it never rained for anyone this week!

No it doesn't say it has to rain for three hours. If it rains and you see puddles. Basically that's about 1mm. Can happen in 10 mins easily.

  • From Wikipedia

Rainfall intensity is classified according to the rate of precipitation:
    • Light rain — when the precipitation rate is < 2.5 millimetres (0.098 in) per hour
    • Moderate rain — when the precipitation rate is between 2.5 millimetres (0.098 in) - 7.6 millimetres (0.30 in) or 10 millimetres (0.39 in) per hour
    • Heavy rain — when the precipitation rate is > 7.6 millimetres (0.30 in) per hour, or between 10 millimetres (0.39 in) and 50 millimetres (2.0 in) per hour
    • Violent rain — when the precipitation rate is > 50 millimetres (2.0 in) per hour
So if it rained violently, 1mm could fall in around a minute

My nephew told me it was featured on Watchdog tonight as the website has crashed. Did anyone see the programme? I bought two packets of crisps this morning as well
