No - the best thing is just to wait overnight, and it'll normally be showing up there by the next day.
There's no need to go into the branch or anything, it'll always automatically return (no matter what telephone banking told you...).
I hope this is the case. I put £1000 in to get the £5 bonus and then it disappeared the next day. I'm hoping it reappears tomorrow so I can transfer £999 back out.
I was about to phone Customer Services, but I think I'll wait a day or two.0 -

They told me that the money was "there" but I had to go to the branch, as only they could release it. A long wait in the branch, and a member of staff did exactly as I had done, and phoned head office. Eventually I got my £100 back.
Head Office may well be unaware, but phone/online banking/new accounts dept are certainley very well aware as it's common procedure for Halifax current accounts.
If told to go to branch then you were quite simply misadvised, not an uncommon theme from bank CSA's ! I suspect your intervention due to the advice given compounded the problem.0
