Why would my mostly automated install have chosen WPA-PSK ... is it a limitation of my hardware or Virgin ADSL ... and what would I have to do to uprate it if indeed it is capable of being uprated?
The specs say your router supports WPA2. The automated setup probably set it to WPA because that is both secure and compatible with equipment that can't run WPA2.

Lots of routers offer the option to support both in the same way they offer wireless b and g support. If you check your wireless setup page it's probable that yours will too.

Yes you can change the encryption to WPA2 which is more secure. Should be a dropdown on the wireless settings page of the router where you entered the passphrase/key etc.

Thanks very much guys, you've been a great help. I changed the spec on the router setup and mirrored the settings in Windows and voila ... I now have WPA2. :T
