Is this a usb printer cable?

hope someone can answer shortly.

Is this a usb printer lead. I want to see if my cable has 'gone' tried two printers which i cannot get to work. trying cable before i buy a new printer.

  • yea, it's known as a USB A - B cable and can be used to connect your printer to your computer.

    I'd be very surprised if it's a faulty cable.

    Do other things (eg a mouse or pen drive) work in the port?
    Have you installed the printer drivers?
    Have you tried a known working port?

    well its not the cable. so off to comet to buy printer!

    Just plug the USB cable into another USB port.

    done that no difference. would changing LPT1 make any difference?
    when i switch on now I get no warning that pc has found new hardware!

    Have you checked your usb host controllers in device manager?

    Yes to usb host controllers.
    Opened device manager. No yellow diamonds. Opened up everything no yellow streaks at all.

    Bit confused , LPT1 is a parallel port not a USB one.
