Hi all hope you dont mind me having a ramble...
Had ym centres set out in my head on paper etc priced up. Just the general fish bowl mirror plate floating flower.
Then my issues began:
what do you think??
my only issue with this is having to give these away at the end i dont wana be left with them and we was going to have cupcakes as a cake so it may be too much so would have to go bk to the option of a normal wedding cake
*told you id ramble

Then my issues began:
- how many weddings do this? (no offence to anyone these are what I always wanted but theres a few weddings coming up same people and i know these will prob be the way to go as most use a company to deal with it who do the same sort of thing)
- I wanted scatter crystals round the plate but I cant stop thnking about the smaller kids picking these up and eating them!
- The fake flowers were costing me £2 each -cheapest I can find-and they come on a very long stem and I really dont want to be cutting that off for a head but cannot find gerbera hot pink heads anywhere!!
- The price of getting it all together seemed silly for soemthing that people may not notice too much
- I tried looking at cheaper options but all looked a bit boring/colourless.

I like this idea - would be something different (I'm with you on the fish bowls...)

....and if you are talking about cakes, I've just found http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SILICON-BIG-JUMBO-GIANT-TOP-CUPCAKE-MUFFIN-MOULD-/260663788967?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Kitchen_Cookware_GL&hash=item3cb0c5c5a7 this which is WAY cheaper than I've seen them elsewhere and for that price, you could afford to get a couple of them to make your baking a bit quicker..!!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! I think that's a fantastic idea! You could colour the icing to match your theme if you wanted.
A bit off topic, but how are you meant to eat these giant cupcakes? I'm imagining a slice of it on a plate, and for some reason I find the thought quite funny!
BTW, that's a fantastic price Dizzie77 has found!Swagbucks Amazon gift vouchers 2014 125/250

We have the giant cupcake mould- got it for a fiver on the street stalls in liverpool. They take ages to bake so you would defo need a couple of moulds if you were using them!
It's really 1 cake on top of another when you put it together so when you slice through you get 2 pieces really if that makes sense!0 -
I've thought of doing something similar, but having cupcakes on tiered stands in the centre of the tables - that way nobody has to worry about who cuts the cake! I've got a giant cupcake mould & second the fact they take ages to bake... practice is needed to get the icing looking good as well (I'm on my third attempt trying to get it right now & still haven't managed it; I am a bit of a perfectionist though!)
Also loving the idea of having a cupcake bouquet as a centrepiece: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bgDW0h98YWQ/SLBBMbrQkbI/AAAAAAAAA7Y/Kz8qUDbdC34/s1600-h/Cupcake+Bouquet3.JPGMortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00 -
i bake them for a living thats why i thought of it
i have the silicon moulds and yes they take forever!
all im thinking is its cheaper and easier for me to do then faf about with bowls flowers etc
it would be real cake and then id just let people take them at the end and do whatever with them.
they are hard to cut i find as when you hit the join the top half falls first then you have the second bit-if theres loads of filling it tends to prevent this lol
they are gigantic though! just taken us 3 days to get through one and thats everyone on 2 portions a day haha
Thanks for all replies im really glad it was a hit
ps.now the isse is what do i do baout my cupcake wedding cake tower!?Marrying the love of my life May19th 2012

I had an idea! Why not use the silicon moulds to make plaster cupcakes? Then you could paint them to match and still have a cupcake wedding tower. HTH :beer:0

Considering the cost and the difficulty involved in creating a giant cupcake - I personally would far rather do a cupcake stand - filled with enough cupcakes per table.
Something like this:I love surprises!0 -
some nice ideas here - I like the vintage cups & saucers filled with sweeties personally!
