  • Use Samknows to check what's available from your exchange then check out the deals each of the ISPs are offering.
  • Are any of you on O2? We were with them when I was at uni - £7.50 a month for unlimited access, and I think they do a phone line service now which existing O2 customers can get discount on.

If you can't get Be, you won't get O2 as they are both owned by Telefonica O2.

You wouldn't happen to be Bangor would you?

Talk talk are the only ones with equipment in our local exchange but they haven't activated it yet.

In the end went with BT for the line and coop for the BB. Proberly not the cheapest option, but it was the best i could find on 12month contract(I finish this year and will be moving out)

Call me cynical, but unless you are hosting a very busy website, or all six of you iplayer and bittorrent at the same time all the time you shouldnt need to worry about the 7meg speed. And if you are you really need to worry about download limits and "fair use policies" on "unlimited" packages.

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/isps.html seems to be a good place for research. But unless things have changed in the last couple of years, I'll doubt you'll find a Broadband provider which provides monthly or 9 month contracts without connection fees which make them as expensive as a 12 month contract.
  • Yes it is in Bangor, North Wales.

I think we will have to go with Virgin at £36 a month, mainly because it has an unlimited package, and im sure we will exceed the fair use policies offered by other providers.

thanks for all the help everyone.

£36?! I never knew they even had a package that went that high. It would make sense for you to start on the lowest package they have then immediately upgrade to the highest if necessary. That way when it's the holidays after 9 months you can drop back to the lowest package. They'll happily let you upgrade from your original package, but few will let you downgrade.

Are you sure they have no fair use policy, and are you really so sure that you'll go over what they consider fair use?
