But she drove into my car due to her low driving standard, and because she didn't drive like sensible person and reverse into the space and like a substandard driver drove in "nose first" I've now got a massive mark on my car.

I think I'm gonna call her and tell her £50 to make it "go away".

    Regards,
    Andy

Why do you think that sensible people reverse into a parking space and substandard drivers driver in 'nose first'? As has already been pointed out, it often makes a lot of sense to park nose first in a supermarket as it makes filling your boot much easier. Reversing in often leaves you with no room between your car and the car behind you. Doing so would lead me to believe you were a substandard driver.

It seems that you don't really care about your car at all and only want to get some money out of this woman to punish her. My suggestion is either go through the insurance or don't do it at all, if I were her i'd say fine take it through the insurance and you'd end up with no car and a couple of hundred quid to try to find a replacement.

to which Andy would easily find a car for a couple of hundred quid.. at the end of the day pet his car was hit by some silly woman in a hire car which goes to show she was the substandard driver not him (considering he wasnt driving it ). also he would be able to retain salvage for a nominal amount and reuse it- I HOPE SO ANDY AFTER ALL YOU HAD A NEW CLUTCH FITTED :rotfl::rotfl:

TBH it's a rental - she won't care. You know as well as I do what rental cars are designed for.

    Get claiming.

Whatever you do, if you make a claim your insurance will go up. Even if it's no fault, your ncd won't be affected, but your basic premium will, and you will have to declare it for 3 or 5 years, and so will your brother. Whereas if the damage isn't worth worrying about, and you hadn't noticed, you have a scuff on a car that you don't care about. She could have easily driven away without telling you, so is it worth it?
If the full amount is recovered from the other party, how will that push up his premium?

Any accident notification, whether no fault or otherwise, generally has an adverse affect on future premiums.
  • Forget about it, what's the point of all the hassle, it's not as if you have a new car.

When mine was hit in a carpark, it wasn't the damage I was annoyed about.... It was the fact he drove off that made me pursue it. Had he stopped, placed a note on my car or just waited for me I'd have not bothered.

  • Agree with the sentiment above.

However I'm just going to leave it, the car will probably be scrapped in the next few months anyway, so really no point in persuing it.

However, should anybody on here park near a tatty old "P" plate Primera around Suffolk, please don't hit her, she's had enough!

    Andy
