Stay on the boat and enjoy the facilities! Thats what we did on the QE2 - in each port we got off for a short while and had a walk around, I think we got a shuttle into town in Bergen and walked around a market where there were loads of furs hanging up (with the heads still on!). There were fountains, lovely ones and some nice cheap jewellery on one of the market stalls. Eating and drinking in Norway is very expensive so we got back onto the boat where food was free.
There are always trips but they can work out pricey, from Bergen they will be trips to the Fjords. Visit the bergen site for more info. The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0 -

the old side of the town is nice.

Take the funicular railway up the hill and enjoy the views of the town. The kids will like the aquarium - especially the penguin and seals feeding time.0

aww that looks fab
have i got it right though
ive priced it up as 106 NOK which on currency converter equates to just over £8 ?!!!
is that right cos everyone has been saying how expensive things are over there ?!0 -
Yes it is expensive over there - think £8 for a meal in Macdonalds, £7 for a pint of beer, £2 for a bottle of coke etc.
The cheaper method is to take the funicular railway up the hill then take one of the many walks down through the woodland.0 -
thanks blue
the kids play area at the top looks lovely and the views ?!!! wow 0 -
My worst case of "how much?!?!?!" was in the Hard Rock Cafe in the centre of oslo - £15 for a single Jack Daniels and Coke!0
