Built-in Freeview / Sky Problem

I bought this TV with built in freeview - LG 32LH3000
I plug the ariel into my TV then into the socket on the wall.
I try manual and automatics scans to get the freeview working but I have not managed to get it working since I bought the TV.
We do have Sky+ downstairs in the front room. We don't have multi-room. However when we first got sky fitted we did get channels 1-5 through the normal tv tuning and on channel 6 in all the other rooms we had whatever was on Sky downstairs.
Can i fix this problem so i can get my freeview working on my TV? Do i need a new ariel? Any help would be much appriecated.
Regards,

Can you get the Sky channel on analogue?
Can you get the main 4 (even poor quality) analogue channels?
If not check the aerial feed is plugged into the Sky box and that the cable that feeds the rest of the house is plugged into RF2 on the Sky box.
Still no joy? check the distribution point (in loft?) does the amp have power?0 -

I don't understand what you mean by analogue? Sorry, not overly techy.
If this helps though; i do get whatevers on downstairs coming through one channel on my tv upstairs through one channel and the picture is quite poor.
I shall check if the ariel is plugged into the Sky downstairs and check the RF2 aswell tonight and report back.0 -
Sometimes, an old conventional aerial will not work for Freeview and people find they do need a new installation. The Freeview signal for you may come from a different transmitter than the analogue signal and your existing aerial could be pointing in the wrong direction.
Also, have you checked that Freeview is available in your area - there are still pockets where the service is not yet up and running but these are few and far between now.

or ask a neighbour if they receive it.0 -
More background needed here. Before you got the new TV, did you just use Sky? Have you ever had Freeview reception at this property using this aerial connection? If not, I would be asking: is the aerial socket connected to the aerial? Are you in an area with Freeview reception? (see above post).
Analogue is the 'old fashioned' means of terrestial TV reception prior to Freeview, your TV will have twin tuners, one analogue and one Freeview. If you switch to the analogue mode (RTFM!) and you can get 4 or 5 channels, then that indicates that your aerial and aerial feed are working. In which case the problem is probably inadequate Freeview reception, which may require either an aerial realignment or a new aerial. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Yes, I have checked this before. I do have coverage in my area.
I will try the above advice tonight and then report back. If i cannot solve the issue I will place a call out with a local Ariel technician.
Thank you for all your help so far.0 -

I didn't really watch TV in my room tbh, mainly downstairs. Sorry, i know this doe not help.

No, i have not tried it before with any other freeview / tv in this house.

Yes.

Thank you for the explanation i know understand.
I have just checked the Sky+ Box downstairs and the aerial input has a splitter on it with one lead going into but it was not connected to the aerial on the roof. I then connected the aerial on the roof cable to the splitter on the sky box aerial input.
I went upstairs to my room and scanned using both manual and auto tuning on the analog and free view options and i only got 1 channel come back as "SKY-S" which obviously is Sky Sports which was on downstairs at the time.
So no joy with the aerial option. I also couldn't find the slot on the back of the Sky+ Box which is called RF2?

You are connected to one of the RFs if the Sky channel is showing upstairs.
Downstairs take the lead from the aerial from the splitter (Check condition of connector) and put it straight into the Sky box aerial in, now getting the channels? take it from the Sky box and plug it straight in to the downstairs TV, anything? if not aerial probably kuputz.0
