Where to sell an Ercol vintage coffee table?

An elderly relative has decided they want to sell their Ercol vintage coffee table and has asked me to research to find a market for it - not easy! Of course Ebay has them selling at about £60 -£80, but I sense they want a bit more than that for it as the latest Ercol catalogue has the sam table priced at £385!!!!!!!!!!
Plus, Ebay would be problematical because they are not into computers - I would have to list it as collection only and they live 80 miles away from me, so I would uncomfortable at the idea of them having to deal with an Ebay buyer in their own home. They are in the Portsmouth area and the only Ercol buyer I could find online was in Maidstone and unwilling to travel more than 20miles.
Anyone got any suggestions?

To be honest I think you might struggle with this, a couple of years ago my elderly mother asked me to dispose of a large quantity of Ercol "Old Colonial" furniture - Dining table, 6 chairs, 2 x dressers, coffee table etc. After exploring various avenues we ended up putting it all on ebay with no reserve - everything sold, though for very little money.
My only other suggestion would be to advertise it in the local paper.0 -
OP, maybe contact John Cameron Associates in Southsea.
They are Auctioneers.

How about this dealer in Gosport?

We bought an Ercol dining table and chairs through the local paper for 50.00 about 6 years ago. When we wanted to sell them we couldn't even put them in the local auction as they said that they never sold. We eventually donated them to a charity shop.0

Yes, I take everyone's point about the difficulty of selling old Ercol - but this coffee table is late 60s-early70s type retro/ modern and seems to be very much in demand and selling well on Ebay (I've been watching loads sell in the past 3 weeks). I know that perhaps Ebay can't be seen as a barometer of whats "in" at the moment! But it does give a rough idea of trends.
I think we may have to go with the local auction houses and see what happens.0 -

Thanks Monkeyspanner - this looks just what we're looking for! I'll pass it on.0 -
I hope you're right, although that was about the age of our dining set. We lived on the IOW so I'd be surprised if there was much difference in demand just over the water. If it's selling so well on Ebay, why not sell it there?0

You never get much for second hand furniture, I'm afraid, unless it's antique - Oldernotwiser is right. I reckon they'd be lucky to get as much as the ebay price. If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?0

We had no offers for our very good quality dining set (Meredew); it went to a charity shop.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Most people would rather have IKEA than Ercol nowadays. It's a pity but "good" furniture is out of fashion. I donated a diningroom table, chairs and sideboard to a charity that helped homeless furnish their homes." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."
