What to do with drug dealing/smoking neighbours next door (council property)

It's driving us bonkers, Our attached neighbours are forver smoking weed, it drifts out of their windows and in to ours. It's been a nightmare this summer with the warmer weather as we obviously want to air the house out but get this foul smell drifting through.

Also the lads there are drug dealing too

It's a council property and the tenant is the mother of the lads but obviously lets them get away with it.

We don't want to confront them as who would want to confront drug dealers and trying to be careful in where to report so not to arouse suspicion on who has reported them as I don't want reprrcussions it if ever anything did get done.

About a year ago I did report anonynmously through various means (including the council) but nothing has been done :(

Any suggestions?

Report again, ask to speak to the anti-social behaviour team, hopefully someone will listen. Also ring crimestoppers re the drug dealing.

  • What happened when you reported the crime to the Police??

I reported anon through the crimestoppers website and also through the contact us on the council website.
Nothing has been done with either report unless it is "on their radar" now. Maybe they have bigger fish to fry but I was very detailed in my reporting and pretty much gave them everything to hand on a plate.

Well done: Beware that your IP address can be tracked from these sites so "they" may know where it was reported from. .. (? Internet caff if you wanna do it again??)

You don't know nothing was done... (unless you have inside info. from the Polis..)

Neighbour Watch? Local Councillors/MP/MEP?? Anonymous letter to local papers?? Firebomb through front window?? I'm sure that the dealing has been reported on their annual tax return to HMRC & they are paying tax on it: [Serious point - remember they got Al Capone through Tax..].. HMRC have a grass up line...

As far as I'm concerned we don't want scum like this (dealers) in our country... If I've upset anyone stating this, tough!

    Cheers!

matbe they are grasses and are protected by the police..a lot of dealers are.be very careful ..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • Don't expect the police or council to do very much unless you you make repeated complaints , do it in writing as they will then have to record it . Its no good phoning .... you'll get nowhere .

And its true what geoffky says .... theirs no honour amongst theives (and drug dealers) .

We used to watch our thieving drug dealing neighbour empty his house of all contraband a few days before he got raided , the first 2 or 3 times we just thought he was lucky but over the years it became a joke in our household as we knew as soon as he started emptying his property of stolen gear the police would be raiding in the next few days , they never let us down .

The problem is proving it. The police are aware a lot of drug dealers but its getting evidence to prove it and a witness thats willing to go to court. The council and police probably did investigate your complaint but if you didn't give them any contact detials how can they report back what they did? What can they really do without a witness willing to go to court? Its very frustrating for the police to know someone is doing something but no-one in the community willing to stand up and be a witness and help convict these people.
There is nothing you can do about the smoke coming through as its just one of those little niggles in life you have to life with.
I would move. If you own your house then rent it out till they move on. As unless your willing to take a stand then thats all you can do. Or put up with it.

Proving is the difficult part, I have thought that without video surevelience it is almost impossible as it is just word of mouth...I'm not going to risk starting to film movements of certain individuals.

I did use the 2 way log in thing on crimestoppers website. What is supposed to happen is if they need any more information, you log in within 4 weeks of reporting and after logging in, will request further information about the crime.

For now I guess sit tight, maybe the cars involved will get pulled and something found on them then.

  • I don't see any similarity between dope-smoking and dealing nuisances next door and the (most obviously) Class A-using maniac in Brighton/Hove. The B/H one was fond of bemerding I see from the report in the Argus. Nice
