    To the rescue! (kind of)

Went into Sainsbury's today (I find it difficult to pass supermarkets without going in :o) and went straight to the chilled food aisle.

At first I couldn't see the red boxed Pizza Express pizzas but then found them on an end aisle. Checked the back of the box and the best information they give you is....

This year's harvest is 10 million kilos of tomatoes.(I assume that's January to September)

Better get the scales out and weigh those tomatoes! :p
    Life's what you make it....

"I've got one, two, three, [STRIKE]four[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]five[/STRIKE]... senses working overtime..", XTC.

Life beyond voluntary work scares me, but what else is there?

Also noticed the question asked on the entry form is how many tomatoes did we harvest last month.

If it helps anyone, the main harvest month is August, when more tomatoes are harvested in Italy than in the other 3 harvest months of June, July and September.

As the question requires the number of tomatoes, rather than a weight, then on average 1kg is about 6 tomatoes (depending on the tomatoe variety and size).
Therefore I believe the answer is going to be in the region of 30 to 40 million tomatoes.
  • This is a toughie, even to make a guess it's tough!

The question has changed slightly -

How many tomatoes did we harvest last month as part of our annual tomato harvest?

They annually harvest 10 million KG Tomatoes
They harvest all the Tomatoes at the end of the Summer which is August
The Question is Guess How many Tomatoes harvested last month ?
The answer is 10 million KG

If it isn't 10 million KG then its whoever guesses closest to the actual amount harvested since
10 million KG is the only number we have.

I can't believe that anyone will have accurately counted the actual number of tomatoes picked. Imagine how awful it would be if you lost count at 3,000,458...
