Email problem

I use BT internet for Emails
Because I do not know what I am doing with outlook express
I always go to BT to send an receive emails
Problem is when ever I want to send a link or reply to something I am always took to outlook express which is not set up to work so I can not send a lot of stuff thru email

Can I alter something so the computer does not go thru oulook express when ever I want to send a link or screenshot or anything really but goes thru my email automatically

Is it best to set up outlook express which I do not know how to do
Is It Something about POP account and SMTP .I do not know what you do with these

Any one know the best option ?

espresso's right. I think it's the best opstion, as far as I know there is no way to make your browser/webmail your default email client.

if you log on to your account there is a button to click that will set it up for you

    go to www.btinternet.com

    log on

click on My Account on the grey toolbar near where it says you name

under your email address it says

    configure my email settings

click on that and it takes you onto an autmated bit that goes off and does the whole thing for you

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

This is the message I get if I try and send a email ?
I have got all my emails in outlook express
Thank you all very much for your help
  • In OE, click Tools - Accounts - double-click mail.btinternet.com - click Servers tab - tick My server requires authentication - click Settings - select Use same settings and click OK all the way out.

just thought, Firewalls have blocked email before, check that outlook express has FULL access to the internet ...

Nortons also has a ahabit of blocking email, only way i know of stopping that was to turn off outgoing email scanner...but someone else may know a fix

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I now get this error ?

Should my POP3 and STML be my email address ?
Is the fact that I connect to the internet with AOL Broadband anything to do with my problems
