Hi
Ive tried getting in to college full time, but dispite calling and emailing no one really helped. So i ddint get in.
Ive found a part time course, but its further education not, higer and was wondering if there are any funding ideas? ive tried the local authority and the job centre.
Its the course fees i need help with. Im 18 and have been estranged from my parents since 16, and im struggling.
Has anyone got any ideas?

If you don't already have a level 2 or 3 qualification and this is what you'll be doing then you will receive funding for it. If you already have a qualification at this level and you're on means tested benefits the college may be able to waive the fees.0

I dont, i asked but they said they wont be waiving fees as its part time-ive spend 3 hours online lookinf for various ways.0

If you are on a course leading to your first full level 2 or 3 qualification you should not have to pay for your fees.
What are you going to be studying?
If you are not on a course leading to your first full level 2/3 qualification but your course is funded by the Skills Funding Agency and you are getting certain benefits you will also qualify for free tuition.

As far as I know you do have to be doing the course full time to get it free. I did an Access course 2 years ago that was free for me as I did it full time and was my first level 3. I had friends doing it part time as their first level 3 who had to pay because they did it part time.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

Unless things have changed in the last 3 years, the level 3 entitlement applies to both full and part time study.0 -
beauty therapy/ I wanted to do a access course, but they had no spaces. I was told i cant get funding as im 18 and doing partime courses...which is silly as they told me last year "when your 18 youll get more help" they keep moving the goal posts0

Beauty Therapy is often "full cost" course and therefore fee waivers etc don't apply. It's also a big jump from doing an Access course!0

i know , but i cant sit in the house anymore.. and its the only course. left. You have to admit and employer would rather see me doing something than doing nothing0

If you do not want to do Beauty Therapy but are just looking for something to do why don't you try to get a job and do a distance learning course in something you actually want to study?0
