Maybe i was a little harsh, but have read stuff over there and some have been calling a crash since 2001.
Question is have we had a crash? are we due one?
Personally you can never call it right purchasing a house, some here predict massive corrections in the future, yet 07/08 etc we seen 20%+off,this the majority let pass them by.
If you got time to sit it out+the ability to save pots of cash fine,if not the years tick by.Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0 -
You are a piece of work aren't you.
I find it hysterical that you get so wound up about it as well.
Who's wound up? I am just making an observation. For an example of a "wound up" post try looking below:Originally Posted by tawse57

Frankly, people like you disgust me. Up on your high horses looking down on the rest of us thinking you are somehow superior.
Is this how you intend to live your life? How is that working out for you?0 -
The buyers don't like it when it works the other way and they get gazumpted.
House prices will be rising again soon so it will be pay back time. Remember this if gazundering becomes normal practise. I would NEVER sell my house to somebody who gazundered me. I wouldn't care if it cost me money. I wouldn't let some scumbag take my hard earned easy.We love Sarah O Grady0 -

As long as you gazunder on the property you are buying by the same amount then equilibrium is restored!0 -
Gazundering is the lowest of the low. They take advantage by making demands at the last minute. I just hope it happens to them when they want to sell something in order to buy their dream home.

I'd gazunder in a second if I thought it would work, irrespective of whether I thought the house price had fallen or not, simply to save cash. It is still part of the negotiating process.0

Fortunately many people in this country have more scruples than you and wouldn't dream of going back on a deal just to make more money for themselves.
I'd love you to try it with one of my properties; you'd be told where to go in no uncertain terms, the house would be back on the market in a flash and, rather than saving cash, you'd be out of pocket with your valuation/solicitor fees.
You'll also have missed out on your ideal home as if you think you could just come back sheepishly with your original offer you'd be thinking again.Every generation blames the one before...

I do not like the practice and some years ago got caught up in a gazumping episode....
If someone gazundered me I would try and pass the loss down the chain, if the other party was not interested then I would simply not sell.
Its all very well getting on high horses and the like but some chains can be quite large. It only takes one buyer/seller in that chain to start the process and one to collapse the chain. If finances are tight then there may be no choice but to try and pass the loss on.
End of the day a person that allows a chain to collapse is also seen in a very poor light.
If there was not an obsession with house values across the Country then the practice would be much scarcer.
So yes the person that instigates the practice may be without shame but not those affected who are simply trying to recoup their loss. It is not always clear who will have instigated the situation.0 -
