7zips fine for singular files, if its a hugh file split into sections then 7zip is cr*p ~ only winrar will do

I've been using 7-Zip for many, many years and that simply isn't true.

If you can tell me how to set 7-zip to uncompress multiple rar'd files that create one single file as easy as winrar im all ears

  • thanks, I've just right clicked and clicked extract here and that worked. I hate all this zip and unzip file stuff :)

This is used to reduce the file size and make easy attachment.

Winrar provides you with a 30-day free trial and then will require you to click through the reminder every time you use it after that period.

You pay your money... or not & make your choice.

You can only do that if the rar set contains one file. Unless you mean recombine to one rar file?

Otherwise you'd need to unrar the set then re compress the contents as a single 7zip/zip. You cant rar anything unless you use winrar due to licensing restrictions.

The following is an extract from http://www.izarc.org/tutorials.html

    How to split large archive
    Step 1: Open IZArc
Step 2: From the Tools menu select "Create Multi-Volume Set". A dialog appears.
Step 3: Select a single archive that you want to split.
Step 4: Select the location and the file name of the spanned archive that will be created.
Step 5: Specify the size to be used for the individual parts.
    Step 6: Click OK.
    Step 7: Close IZArc.
How to merge multi-volume ZIP archive
    Step 1: Open IZArc
Step 2: From the Tools menu select "Merge Multi-Volume Set". A dialog appears.
Step 3: Select a multi-volume archive that you want to convert into single zip archive.
Step 4: Select the location and the name of the single archive.
    Step 5: Click OK.

I've done that numerous times. Open up 7zip, select the first file in the rar set, select the file(s) you want to extract, and click the 'Extract' button. Doesn't that work for you?

Not when its to create ONE file no (ie, theres 99 rar files once unpacked creates one single file)

With winrar I can double click 'any' of those 99 files and itll still work without a hitch

I unpack multipart rar files with 7zip all the time. Never caused me any problem or confusion. Damned if I could get my head round all those Hijack logs, though...

So thatll work with multiple rar files? (It states 'zip' which clearly isnt a rar)

Perhaps you missed the pertinent bit - and you were talking about 7zip
