ham left out in the sun - would you eat?

I am mainly on about private parties bitsandpieces. You dont know how long the food has actually been left at room temp! If its professionally catered then (theoritically) they know how to refrigerate the food and how to keep it cool until its eaten! but, most parties I have been to at hired premises the family cater the food. I will NOT eat meat or fish dishes then. I have actually seen people leave cooked chicken out in the kitchen all afternoon then put in on the buffet table!
I agree you don't know (I wouldn't be more confident about hygiene with certain restaurants and caterers to be honest :rotfl:). Bad food hygiene increases risk of food poisoning but I'd still eat the food at pretty much any buffet if it looked, smelled and tasted good - I'm healthy and seldom get illThere are a few things I'd avoid, though (shellfish, for example) if I wasn't confident in food storage etc.

On the same theme..
I cooked some lamb a week ago then on sunday with the left overs (i didnt want to throw it away) i have turned it into curry.
However it was then left out all night covered with a lid. I put it in the fridge early in the morning (monday) when i remembered i had left it out!
What do you think? will it be ok if i reheat it properly? my initial thoughts are sling it in the bin“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -
I would say if the meat was covered, it should be okay, and ham is a cured meat too. The Lamb would still be okay as well. Raw meat, fish and shelfish are an entirely different matter. Just to be on the safe side, I would only use it in cooked food, and not cold in sandwiches.0

I've done this before, you're not alone!
I was going to say if you simmer it for 10 mins it should be ok, but rereading I see the meat's already a week old - I'd probably bin it to be on the safe side.
It's only a game

The two foods I'd always avoid at a buffet; mayonnaise and rice salads. Mayo because it's notoriously easy to cross contaminate and rice because you have no idea whether it was cooked and chilled immediately, and to make matters worse it's been sitting in a warm room...... Having had food poisoning from rice, it's not worth the risk.0
