I've got some nice ham. Was left in the sun for a good few hours today - I'm trying to decide whether to eat it (either cold in sarnies or hot in another dish). Would you eat this?

hmm... that's a difficult one. Probably would but only if it had the bejeses cooked out of it.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Hi Bitsandpieces
It's hard to say - how hot was it? I would use my senses - smell, taste a little and see how it was and take it from there. Of course, don't risk your health for a bit of ham
I'll merge this with food safety later

Mixed opinions, then! The problem with ham is it tends to disguise 'off' flavours - so harder than things like plain pork to know if it has gone.
I don't like wasting food and feel especially bad if something has been killed to become food. But food poisoning is one of the least pleasant ways to loose weight I can think of.0 -
Sounds like you have answered your own question

I wonder how many flies laid eggs on it in those hours?

No, I wouldn't touch it, covered or not!I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0
