I doubt the usb connection would work for this, but I could be wrong. If this did work would the HIFi recognise the non MP3 tracks on an IPOD. The MP3 probably means it will play MP3 on discs. You would need a line in connector on the HiFi.0

Yes it sounds like the MP3 claim is for a CD or perhaps even a USB stick containing MP3 files plugged into the USB slot. Devices that have ipod compatibility usually say so, and have a dock.
If the system has a mini-jack aux input you could use that (you might have to buy a cable for it though).0 -

on the instructions it says it has a l and r aux and a l and r line out but is that what you mean? For where it says USB playing it says ...when the USB flash is plugged into the connector on the main unit, the MP3 song inside the flash can be played if the USB function is selected appropiately.
The unit will play the MP3/WMA music automatically.0 -
Sounds like you want something like this:

If you had an MP3 player I guess the usb connector would work for direct play.0 -
iPod dock

along with 3.5mm to RCA cable to go into Line In or AuX In. This will keep the iPod charged as well. There's also a remote control for it0
