  • Well the infection that has now been removed is in the system restore.

    What issues were you facing?

    Issues are that the system has started to riun slow (but is much better now)

    The most noticable issue, which is still present is the redirection of the browser which is still happening. If I search for something (google), and click on the link it takes me to a completely random webpage.

    Download HostsXpert
    http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Hoster-Download-27041.html
    and then follow the below steps.
    * Unzip HostsXpert.zip
    * It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
    * Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
    * click the Make Writeable? button.
    * click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
    * Click the X to exit the program

    In my experience, creating yourself a new user and testing will prove if the 'problem' is lurking on the surface or deeper in the system.

    'Migrating' from one profile to another can be easier and quicker than trying to recover a hijacked browser and registry. It takes minutes to test this theory.

    Most things seem to have been sorted now. The system is alot quicker, however, still having problems with the browser redirect (but if I now press back, it will go to the website I was searching for)

    Only thing that I cant seem to change back, and obviously is related to the above steps, is that my browser hisory doesnt save and/or keeps deleting. I assume this can be altered back to saver the history?

    Thanks all for your time as well.
