cat tree recommendations

Hello all
I have a rescue cat who is about four, big, fluffy and possibly a little overweight! She hates going outside without us as she is a real fraidy cat.
Before she arrived i'd never had a cat and we got her a basic cat scratcher house that she's too big to fit in though loves sitting and scratching on it. Its getting old and we would now like to get her something a bit better maybe with a couple of levels. We don't want to spend too much, probably £35 or so max budget.
Have looked at argos and tesco but nothing seems particulary suitable and we're struggling to work out which will be big enough. Can anyone recommend any houses/ sites which might fit the bill. We're thinking maybe ebay but the sellers have rather mixed reviews
Thankyou!

HI
Not sure where you live, but I was looking at this place the other day, also for scratching posts - surrey pet supplies. They seemed reasonable, and had loads of different designs.DFD February 2012

I buy a lot of stuff for my cat from here http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/scratching_posts
I got a lovely cat tree for him from there. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
I bought a cat bed/tree from Pets at home, for about £45, utter rubbish! They broke the top level within a week, it falls over constantly with their weight, and they like to fight on it.....one of them snapped the mouse attached off (and that was when he was 8 weeks old so weighed nowt!)
if anyone could reccomend one that is not going to topple when they jump off it - Im all ears, because most I've encountered wobble like crazy.0 -

Its basic, but god is it strong.0 -
This is the one i have Buttons http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/scratching_posts/small/37574
However my little guy is only a baby, it seems secure enough at the moment but not sure how adult cats would get on!The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Why don't you try Ebay. That's where ours came from. We originally got it for Clio, about 3 years ago and she loved it. Unfortunately, she got run over in January, but as we knew in our hearts we would be getting another kitten, we did not get rid of it. Benjy just loves it. He is 7 month's old and still comes in from the garden and goes over to have a scratch.0

We have a big fluffy cat as well. We have the fat boy (The one MrsE linked) and they love it, Charley can stretch right out which he likes and the little ones love to climb it and do their king kong impressions.0

funny enough I have both the one MrsE mentioned (fat boy scratching post) and I also have the one gunsandbanjos mentioned (The oasis one from zooplus.) I have no complaints about either.
The fat boy one I've had for a year and if you include the cat that passed away it's had 5 cats scratching on it and it is still going strong! It really does give them the chance to stretch and my little boy ,who is only 12 weeks, loves to watch the other cats from the top of it.
The Oasis zooplus one is good value for money and the second post part also gives them a good stretch. One of my cats is a fully grown ragdoll and she loves it. The baby loves to play with the ball part and jump from level to level. In fact him and my siamese love to chase either other and play on it. It has never toppled over!
I am however looking for a bigger cat activity tree now, just so they can all get on it lol0 -
Thanks everyone, some great ideas so far. I stumbled across the zooplus website after posting and it does seem good value. The oasis one looks tempting and is great value in the sale, will browse some more through the other recommendations and let you know how I get on!Saving for a deposit. £5440 of £11000 saved so far:j0

Have a look at www.petplanet.co.uk. I've just bought 2 x multi-levels from them. Also have a couple of the Fatboys - they are pretty robust.0
