"The Carphone Warehouse introduced a fast cashback offer last week, giving customers up to £150 on their debit or credit cards when signing up to a contract.

A source said the offer was to be used 'as a last resort' if staff were having trouble closing a deal. It was designed to 'buy out' customers from their contracts, and offering a customer £150 would only be done in extreme circumstances.

One Carphone staffer told Mobile: 'It's designed to counter “cash out of the till” offers,' offered by other retailers.

The offer is designed to help close contracts in the face of stiff competition and is being seen as further evidence of a sharper edge in Carphone's retail business"

I was looking for a contract at a shopping centre last Thursday.. went to a shop, the guy was friend of my bro. He told me that he was talking to manager of CPW today and they are offering upto £80 to sign a contract. The shop was next to his.. so he walked in with me and told the manager to give me the £80.. which he did... I sign up on 12 mnths Sony 800i contract o2 400mins 100 txt got £80 straight away and need to make 2 more claims at 4th and 8th mnth. It will work out at £19.58 a month...

I know you could get better offers.

£80 is the standard, You dont have to prove you have an existing contracts.
