Download the latest version of Malwarebytes from here.........

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

Once downloaded make sure you update Malwarebytes first before running a scan.

When Malwarebytes has finished scanning remove anything it finds and then post the log file here.
  • froggy27, if its a lappie don't put anything on D: drive. It may well be your restore partition, delete anything from it or corrupt anything on it, and you will ruin your chances of a factory restore if needed !

Forgotten how much RAM is installed on this machine. 512 MB RAM I think.

If you want to give it it your daughter, you should run a clean install. Are you happy to do so?

just looked on system properties and it seems I have 752 MB RAM..2 slots.. I'm still using this laptop sometimes. Daughter is 6 now so she will use it mainly to surf the net and try and write few documents...just to get her use to computer... by clean install do you mean deleting and reinstalling everything?

Yes. :D I recommend a clean install and the updating of software.

Will run much more efficiently. It's currently clogged up with rubbish. :)

Donnie has a point, it may be easier just to do a clean install if you are happy trying it.

If you do I personally would not re-install zonealarm & avg back on.

Post the malwarebytes log file seeing you have started it anyway.

switch to avast and windows firewall, avg and pctools, ZA with forcefield will be part of the problem

Resetting internet explorer to defaults might help too, ie, tools, internet options, advanced, reset

    also run this

  • I don't mind Donnie i guess that's what we did few years back...but do i need to save and move any documents/photos that I have? everything i willl like to keep is, on the D: drive (even if i shouldn't apparently:o). Am not surprised it's clogged up with rubbish tho..it's so slow.

I imagined that you had already done so. :)

Perhaps we should just go the way of removal.

The general consensus is to remove Zone Alarm and it's ForceField, along with your old version of AVG; replacing it with Avast 5.

Also as closed has suggested, disabling all of those Toolbars by resetting IE to it's defaults.

We can then use CCleaner to disable most of those start up entries.

The choice is yours. But you should ALWAYS have your important data copied elsewhere anyway.
