Suspension without getting dismissed?

  • I felt fine that day when I started work. In the course of 90 mins my ear ache returned and I told my supervisor about it and she weren't bothered. I was there for about 3.5 hours before getting another supervisor (mine was on a tea break) and said I couldn't cope with the pain. I think I terminated about 2 dozen calls in that time.

Sorry that my prev post in this thread looked like I only terminated ONE call and got suspended. The odd call could be suspended by accident as the hold and release buttons on the phone were next to each other.

Lol , you terminated 24 calls and wondered why you got dismissed ?

Jumpy , your posts are amusing lol , no matter what you do in employment its always guna be someone elses fault or your always guna have a very good reason (excuse) why you were forced to do it !

    Words fail me.
  • Jumpycheese1, do you handle money in this job? The store may feel that the business with the bags brings your whole 'honesty' into question. If you'd fiddle that for the sake of a couple of quid, what else might you fiddle.

Too late now, but what on earth possessed you? I think the odds in your favour of keeping this job don't look good, though I do think you may have learned your lesson (even though it was only because you got caught). With unemployment as high as it is, does any company really need to retain ANY 'tea leaves'. It will be bad enough with the number of shoppers who've thought of this mini scam, without discovering staff are doing it too.

I think you, and a few of the others, may be held up as an 'example' of what happens when you display less than 100% honesty. Fingers crossed for you, if you lose this job it may be difficult to get another and I wouldn't really wish that on anyone - but hold your hands up to being a prat!
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

    24 calls?no wonder!

And you should perhaps have said that your hearing was off rather than having earache (which I assume would have been one ear too,and we have two of them)

Really, you don't do yourself any favours in employment at all

Imagine the wrath of 24 customers who believed their calls had been terminated by the operator because they couldnt/wouldnt answer their query, imagine the damage that does to the reputation of a company?

"Does anyone know anyone (this could include yourself) who has been suspended on full pay, had the investigation and didn't get dismissed?"

Yes I suspended a number of people over the years. Some were re-instated with no blemish on their record, others were given verbal or written warnings.

Suspensions need not mean dismissal, although they can if the outcome of the investigation goes that way.

The thing is if I wasn't logged on to a dialler (software that rings out to customers) I would get done for being not being logged on taking calls!

So if I did that I would have been suspended regardless of which route I did.

As opposed to calling in sick because you were unable to do the job which is what most people would have done or after the first couple of times of terminating calls they would have gone home ill until better?

That way you wouldn't have been in trouble either way

How come you are discussing a suspension on two different threads for two seperate acts of either fraud or poor work ethic?

Are you for real or just trolling about?
