I've just got a new one of these and for the first time I have internet access included in my plan, I dont have any security for when I go online using the phone, I presume I need this so which one would you recommend? I use bullguard on my laptop, should I put this on my phone too? is that even possible?
Also I'm new to andriod so any suggestions of apps that are cool/useful would be great although I seem to of found rather a lot myself:D
Thanks for any help:)

At the moment you don't need to worry, there are no threats to Android out there. Any software you have on your laptop won't run on the phone any way, they use different operating systems.0

there *IS* a virus out in the wild that affects Andriod Mobiles via infected websites.

Just don't visit any naughty russian sites on your android and you should be fine...for now...! ^_~Laters

there are some viruses but you have to accept the file that comes via sms first and authorise the installation, once authorised you keep getting billed unknowingly as premium rate numbers keep getting called apparently.
some websites while accessed via google chrome dont show up alerts via norton, but same website when accessed via internet explorer on your computer shows up alerts on norton as an unsafe websites and some such websites have loads of android apps. so havent downloaded apps from those websites as even though i wanted the app i was wary after the norton alert. dont know if the threat detected by norton will work on android phones but seems pretty obvious that a website mainly dedicated to android apps and showing alerts on norton may have some dodgy stuff on the website.
also there is a new alert, where some apps2sd allowed apps have apparently circumvented security permissions and can access other data as well, just read recently about that and dont know how accurate that info is.
for determined hackers, no software system is safe. but things might get a bit safer with android honeycomb version due to honeycomb architechture that limits damage to that cell.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Hi,
A priority should be to security protect the phone itself first of all.
If you've, for example, installed yahoo mail, facebook and gmail access on your phone then anyone who picks up your phone could get into all of your emails and other data.
You can protect the Wildfire by using a security pattern to unlock the phone (similar to how a PIN works).
