Apologies to the OP for hijacking the thread. To help try to answer your question; did you go abroad on holiday? As far as I know, this can make a difference to claiming JSA ie. you are unable to claim it while you are not in the country as you would not be available to attend interviews etc.

no , my holiday was in the UK.

So you are condoning 'Hammyman's' remarks wishing me homeless and my children taken from me?

Let's just clarify this, how many others agree with this?

How about you stop hijacking other people's threads? You have two of your own and are demonstrating a remarkable lack of courtesy or consideration.

In that case, I can only suggest following anxiousmum's advice and go in to the job centre first thing Monday and 'sign on' (speak to your advisor?) again to demonstrate you are actively seeking work.

I don't know enough about JSA and the JC to be able to offer any useful advice. Sorry :(

Thanks for your advice , but what I really need help with is that the job centre didn;t paid me on the 9th , so when I sign on this monday should I ask them to pay me double doll money ???

I would suggest that when you next sign on, you explain that you have not received your benefit and would they please be able to explain the delay - and advise when you might receive a payment. Asking them to pay you double is not likely to endear you to them - you might not be entitled to double.

if you go on holls in uk while on jsa and assuming you have completed and handed back the relevent form to local job center the job center should also sign form and give you a sign on date which is normally the first working day after your holls to go into job center and sign on they will then process your missed payment for the time you were away. you dont get the money until after your holls hence why they make this sign on first working day after your holls

ok. but when I phone up the HQ on the 23/8/10 they told me I would get paid on the 9th , now the 9th has gone and I haven't got paid, yes I going to have a word with my local job centre. But surely they owe me 2 payments ( one for the 9th and one for 16th???). :undecided

In my experience the benefit delivery centres/call centre advisors often get this wrong-you are not 'excused signing' if you go on holiday in the UK and therefore you do not automatically receive your benefit on the normal pay date-(as you would be if for instance you were sick or attending a funeral); you should have been given the 'notes' page from the holiday form you filled in which does say you must attend to sign on the first working day after your holiday and only then will your payment be sent. (provided you agreed that you were available for work, willing to return early to attend an interview for a job, etc).
