Can you please tell us where this overwhelming evidence is?

    the only suite to achieve

yes its very telling that every quote you're finding about norton has a qualification or restriction built into the claim to exclude the other products that would give it a thrashing in independent anti virus tests.

    eg https://www.av-comparatives

Its not as awful as it once was, but its still outperformed by other options that are free for home use.

https://www.av-comparatives.org is a good independant (non commission or 'qualification' making) test site.

you can go look at overwhelming evidence of free stuff outperforming Norton over there :)

have any of you that are bashing norton actually used it lately??

i was a norton basher but thought id try it as people was claiming it had improved and so tried norton 360 and was surprised at how much it had changed..

its no longer resource hungry, ran smooth in the back ground. updated fine

kept the pc safe and clean and am happy to say its no longer the product people think it is...

that saying though i still wouldnt pay the price it gets sold for though..

    Bizarre.

I tried Norton 2009, again (10 years after my previous Norton experience). I only bought it because it was hugely discounted with my new pc at the time.

On reflection, it got better (near the end of my subscription), with an update, but I prefer my free avast, and online armour combo, with spywareblaster, plus firefox with noscript, adblock addons, etc installed. It was definitely less bloated than my first experience, but still not as I'd've liked.

It might be worth trying the free license, if still available though, as the product seemed to be getting better (from my last experience).

Do you possess anything similar to the AV-Comparatives methodology that you utilise?

Not yet, no. You need a real dedicated set of lab testing to go in to that much detail. Besides, the cost involved would be incredible.

All we try and do is push each security suite through the same basic tests and inform on which we believe is the most effective. For example, with the BitDefender Total Security review, we mentioned that on a couple of occasions the app crashed when scanning our system.

If anyone disagrees with anything, they are more than welcome to comment, of course!

    What a lot of rubbish.

Name 1 free programme that outperforms norton internet security 2011.

Evidence of aswell please, as I and numerous other posters have posted article after article after article but yet some of you still have mindsets of norton products 10yrs ago.

    It's laughable.

You get what you pay for, Im sure you've heard of the old chiche ;)

Promoting? How can you reply to a comment without mention a name, brand or website?
