^^ I think that's probably the DIY cost??
My cambelt kit + water pump is £93 at trade prices and it's around 4 hours labour.
Lowest price to supply and fit was £240 (but id have to wait 3 weeks to get booked in)
Dealer was £360
Place im taking it to was £300“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

For my wifes, genuine cam kit £140. Genuine tensioner (should be done every 2nd change) £88. Genuine water pump £185. Not a high fail item, but why take the chance.
Listed as 3 hrs labour.0 -

I always change the belt, tensioners, pulleys, water pump, each time. Genuine vauxhall belt kit and a decent brand pump.0 -
Sorry I took so long to reply was out for the day yesterday and didn't expect to many posts, it is a vauxhall vectra and cost us £600 but have just found out will cost £616 for MOT but forgot to ask to check cambelt as we didn't want an even bigger bill, but maybe it is worth getting him to replace as well better safe than sorry!

My car is Vectra too 2004 model (C series), £600 is way too much for a cam belt change!!! I suggest you stop trusting your car to the stealership and it's trainee mechanics, and look elsewhere.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I think the OP paid £600 for the car not the cambelt......
What engine is it?...0 -
The OP paid 600 for the car and is faced with a 600 quote to get the car through it's MOT this does not include the cost of the cambelt replacement which s/he hasn't had quoted yet.0
