The first reply to the OP post was downright unhelpful, flippant, unnecessary and made huge assumptions....small wonder then, that he reacted to the provocation.
It simply isn't the purpose of any of the MSE forums to try to slag people off, distress or offend or humiliate them in any way, so why do it?0 -
the ops attitude has been terrible but don't rise to it walk away.0

I don't think it's "rather sensitive" to be shocked and appalled at the some of the responses to the OP and to other posters elsewhere on this subforum. I am dismayed that such obviously disturbed individuals (like Apples2) think it is "fun" to post such judgemental and arrogant rubbish - as I've said, it is unhelpful and unnecessary. If you have nothing positive or helpful to add, why add anything at all?
Fair enough, I feel humbled now due to the entirely positive and helpful nature of your post.0 -
its all a bit boring now0

Possibly because some deserve it.0 -

to mr CHR15 - in fairness the tone was set by the first reply to my original post i feel. I set out to get some answersd to questions and any help which may be useful, instead of which apart from a few useful members i have been presented with a great deal of negativity based on rash assumption. My responses may have been overly scithing to a degree for which if any offense has been caused i apologise, however that doesn't change.
People are assuming i'm poor and/or young which is not the case (depending on your interpretation of either word i suppose). Also it seems to be assumed that i want a car so i can hoon around in it at break-neck speeds at great risk to both myself and others, and so i can show off to my friends, neither aasumption being based in any way upon fact, but one can only reasonably assume, prejudice.
I would still be very interested in knowing what this here credit union thing is, irrespective of it's ability , authority or willingness to give me cold hard cash!Honda_Elise0 -
Credit Unions are based in various cities, and are non-profit organisations, which are designed to allow people who are normally financially excluded from accessing various financial products. The interest rates that are chargeable are capped at a maximum of 2% per month (24% APR), but the loans tend to be flexible. In effect you are borrowing directly from savers, which is different to banks with shareholder interests.
Further information can be obtained at the following websites:
ABCUL: www.abcul.org/ (The British Credit Unions' trade body)
WOCCU: www.woccu.org/ (The worldwide Credit Unions' trade body)
Different credit unions have different rules, these are called the common bond. It is sometimes geographic, there may several CUs in Manchester, but you may only be able to use one depending on their joining rules or common bond. It could be that you must be employed or affiliated with a speciic organisation, i.e. the RMT has their own credit union. Some are more lenient than others in the sense that some state you have to save with them for a set period before they will lend, and that they will only lend a mutliple of your savings amount. However it is up to the CU, some have restrictions, others don't.
Hope that helpsBest Regards
