For a young driver, the insurance on an Elise will be around £5000. Has that been factored into the affodability calculation?0

hi neil
you too have fallen foul of the negative replies...it's happening alot. ask one question, get an answer to a completely different one
only the lenders can decide if you can afford it, not the posters on here
there's a pattern emerging here of smug responders saying "aint gonna happen"...just dont bother responding, it's pointless
try to get some quotation searches if you can, firstly with your bank, experian (if you subscribe) moneyextra, lending wizard etc
You seem (as others have) to have overlooked Neil's lovely response - his 2nd post, replying to someone pointing out (correctly) that no-one is obliged to lend to him, and to look for a cheaper car (which as he'd quoted all manner of problems with credit is a sensible suggestion) was to call the reply a "crap witicism" (it's wasn't a witicism anyway).
He also responded to the next comment by calling the poster a "donkey fiddler".
You should think about what sort of person you're defending here. It has all the hallmarks of a troll. More interested in throwing insults about when they don't get the replies they "expect".0 -

I was just about to make a very similar post to this one.
All the sensible politeness was frankly pointless once I read his reply to the first post...Gloves off if you like. We can all gauge the OP's attitude.
This kid is in dream world, there is no mention of any kind of savings yet here we have a bunch of people trying to help him go £10K in debt for a daft car he simply CANNOT afford to either buy or run.
The board members normally points people toward Credit Unions to help them get out of dire financial misery, not to buy a £10k Sports car as a second runabout for a low paid trainee/Shelf stacker.
This is a Money Saving site chaps!0 -
Is it not better to be bluntly honest, than to give the OP false hope of something which could inevitable see him in all manner of financial difficulty?hi neil

if the question is "can i afford this" then yes, being honest would be better
but that wasn't the question
i'm not defending the OPs responses, I'm just trying to answer the original question0 -
The options you have are to buy a cheap car.
You are far too poor and with your low pay, trying to kid your mates you can afford a ten grand car is laughable.
In fact, you should try Yes Loans, I think they will accept you for a £10K loan.
For heavens sake!!! Yet another thread with the same sneering, sarcastic idiotic comments that seem to be coming up in other posts. Funny how the same posters seem to be the ones with the very un-witty sniping remarks, which are unhelpful, make huge assumptions about the OP, and are hugely judgemental - it is disgraceful that people of that ilk should be camping on these boards, which Martin started for HELP and SUPPORT to users, not to sharpen caustic tongues and make judgemental remarks!!
Apples2 and those like you, get a LIFE and IF YOU CAN'T BE HELPFUL THEN DON'T POST REPLIES!!!:mad:0 -

A agree, do these people not realise that it is every teenagers right to run a Lotus once they get to a wage of £18k. How judgemental many posters are on here.0 -

It's not that i consider it a trivial thing and i dont think i've suggested that i do at any point. Post number 24 on here has given me the most useful advice, and to the rest of you, i really am not trying to start an arguement, i'm not a dreamer or unrealistic. I simply seek to understand a process and if none of you were interested in answering the questions i had in a structured and reasonable manner i really cant see the need for you to have polluted what could otherwise have been a useful thread to others reading (if not forum posters).
I was under the impression that this forum could be used by those seeking answers to questions regarding things including their financial state and suitability. I still have questions i want to clarify in relation to my original post but dont now want to continue posting certainly on this thread for fear of being met by pointless negativity. If i could delete your posts i would do so as to at least try and purify the thread, but as far as i can see that is not possible. Is it any wonder that the average new member posts 3 times then !!!!!!s off (i believe i have read that) if all they are met with is this degree of hostility.
To those of you who have been kind enough to answer my questions politely and with useful information i thank you, and if you wish to U2U me with any further advice or questions if you want to clarify what i'm asking i would most apprecaite your time
It is very sad that the likes of Apples2 and others like him/her seem to get some sort of kick out of making abusive, flippant and sarcastic posts which seem to be spreading like a disease across this forum. What a shame that the board should fall prey to such spiteful, negative individuals who behave like this "because they can" and hide behind the anonymity of forum pseudonyms.:eek:
Perhaps its time for moderators to be appointed as the behaviour displayed by some of you is quite disgraceful and I am sure you would not dare to insult people face to face the way you are doing so in the forum! Cowards!:eek:0 -

Did you mean Their or were you pointing at something?
I remain with the same opinoin, this kid is too poor to own an Elise and remain bewildered why people are helping him into this disaster.
I'm stepping out of this thread before it goes off topic lol :rotfl::rotfl:0
