  • Thanks chev but my accident was my own fault-rushing about on a day off spring cleaning and I caught my foot in some washing I was carrying and fell downstairs so there's nothing I can do insurance wise about it.

A couple of organisations have got me to try to claim dla but both times its been refused as basically I can walk, talk, wash myself etc so I don't qualify. To look at me, no one can tell there's anything 'wrong' with me and compared to some of the people I met at the brain injury unit, there isn't. X
  • headway are very good and it may have been them that helped me initially with practical advice-seems such a long time ago now and my memory is pants!

Some people say to keep reapplying but having been turned down before, I don't see the point any more.

Plus, it wouldn't keep the wolves at bay! I'll be asking the court etc to do that tomorrow when I hand over 600 quid!
  • Well, I did it. Court clerks were very helpful. Waited for 2 and a half hours in total but the judge didn't need to see me. I also had a benefit and help returning to work interview straight after but I was barely coherent by then as obviously I hadn't been able to have my rest.

I missed my call from the official receiver as I had crashed out so I rang them back and the lady dealing with me had already left. She's ringing me later this morning. I'll be glad when that's over.

I've had incessant calls from c card company but I haven't answered them yet but I will when I've spoken to the o r.

    Well done.

Now write down your BR number and stick the note by the phone (or on your phone if you have a mobile). If a creditor rings you, answer and simply say.

"Thank you , my bankruptcy number is 12345, please contact the Official Receiver."

Then end the call. If they ring again, ask their name and contact details and tell them you will complain to the OR.

You have the protection of the courts now.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

really? thats all i have to say?! horrible stuff through the post this morning but i suppose i'm very fortunate that i haven't had missed payments going on for months. is that what the court and the OR do? 'You have the protection of the courts now'
. i feel so guilty that people are having to plough through my mess when i was always so together and exact before my accident.

trying to work on my basic budget at the mo whilst waiting for the OR to ring me - hope thats soon cos i'm burnt out already and the cognition is fading fast:(
