have you spoken to National Debt Line? http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/
i think going bankrupt should be a last option. When you worked out how long it would be to pay off a dmp, was it based on your current circumstances? I'm sure that you will get a job at some point, so you would be able to pay off more, and if you get a largeish amount of morey, you can offer a f&f payment, some dca's will take 30% + off the debt.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!

How goes, crumbling?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

hello:)
well, i've completed all of the form today apart from 'cash in hand' and writing up the reason for bankruptcy.
the calls have started today though and been ridiculous (credit card ringing regards my token pound sent to them last week). they ask some security details, say a few words then hang up! all very annoying especially as them ending the calls must mean that the call centre can't tick the box to say i've been spoken to so they've been ringing back all day:(
i'll be sooooo glad when tuesday is over as one of the wretched reasons i haven't been able to return to work is that i MUST rest during the day for a couple of hours and the calls won't let me do this - i'll probably be looking like a zombie by tuesday!
thank you for asking x0 -
Hiya crumbling,
Maybe change your number and / or write and ask them to ONLY contact you in writing. (There are template letters to help with this, quoting Harassment Act etc on MSE and Consumer Action Group).
One small positive step, towards taking the reins back from the creditors!
Don't allow these people to affect your much needed rest. Your health is far more important.
Good Luck to you,
Sim

good idea but hopefully, from tuesday i'll be able to tell them my court number and (i think??) they can't contact me after that? upsetting really as i have never, until now, missed any payments to any of them.0 -
Hiya,
Beg your pardon.
I've read the thread in full just now!
You're right, in that your creditors are not allowed to contact you once you've gone Bankrupt.
I wouldn't even deal with them over the phone if it causes any stress.
Just send them your Court / BR / OR details in writing, and inform them that they'll have to go through your OR
All the best for a happier future!0 -
Thank you sim.
24 hours to go. I feel really odd today to be honest. Kind of sad.
Maybe its the realisation of the job and lifestyle I have had to let go of due to my accident. Oh well, I'll bounce back. Usually do.0 -
Hi there
I am sorry to hear about your accident. I am surprised given your level of disability that you haven't got DLA. Have you thought about asking the head injuries charity (sorry i don't know the actual name), to help you fill out the forms? I know from other people on here, that it was only when they got a charity involved in the form filling, that they actually got any money.
Did you not get any compensation from the person that caused your head injury? Ie their insurers? Now that you know that you are permanently affected with regards to earning an income at your previous level, could you not sue for loss of earnings due to the injury?
good luck moving forward
